GYOTAKU

Gyotaku (gyo-tah-koo) is a traditional Japanese art form where Fishermen used it to record their catch by applying ink to one side of a fish and then pressing paper or cloth over it to make a detailed print. This “fish printing” technique inspired the overlay of ink and textures for a hyperlocal approach to visual distressing.
